Using Adaptive Study Plans for Self-Study
Adaptive Study Plans are diagnostic-based learning tools for many CengageNOWv2 textbooks that can help you identify your unique study needs for the book material.
Your instructor can assign Adaptive Study Plan chapters for a grade, however, your instructor has the option to remove that chapter from your self-study content.
To take Adaptive Study Plans as ungraded self-study
- 1. Click the Study Tools link.
- 2. Select the desired book or product link from the Textbook dropdown menu, if necessary.
- 3. Click the Adaptive Study Plans link and the page will refresh, displaying a table of contents.
(Optional) Click the Go Back To List button to return to the Study Tools page, if you need to change your selection.
- 4. Open a chapter for self-study by clicking either the Start Studying or Resume Studying button in the Action column.
Note: If a section is assigned, a Take Assignment or Resume Assignment button may appear. Click either button to begin. However, a section may be marked Closed, if it is no longer available or removed by your instructor.
- 5. Choose a chapter from the table of contents (TOC).
(Optional) Click Go Back to TOC to select a different chapter.
- 6. Begin by clicking the Take a Quiz button.
When working with Adaptive Study Plans you typically start with a diagnostic Quiz, followed by a recommended Study Plan (based on your quiz results), and a Progress report that assesses your learning. However, you can work on the content in any order.
- 7. Click the Take a Quiz button to begin
- 8. Click Submit and Review Quiz when you are done to open a page where you can review scores by objective categories, scores for each item, and question content with your response.
Note: Clicking an objective title on the review page will highlight the associated items.
- 9. Click See Suggested Study Plan to open your customized Study Plan, which you can use to increase your knowledge and mastery of the current chapter (or you can also take another quiz).
- 10. Use the View Progress page to see an overview of your results for each take. You can choose to format the results as either a bar, stacked, or line graph.
Note: For an overview of taking a graded ASP assignment, see Taking Adaptive Study Plans Assignments
