Header Links
The global navigation area at the top (header), of most pages in CengageNOWv2 provides convenient buttons and links to several helpful features. Here you find the links that open your Home, Courses, Users, Assignments, Gradebook, and Study Tools pages. The link to the page you currently have in focus is highlighted in blue.
Clicking the Cengage Technical Support button (headset icon) opens the Cengage Customer Support site for CengageNOWv2 in a new browser window. Use the available resources to get help if you have a problem working with CengageNOWv2. For additional details, see Using Technical Support.
The header also provides you with a Global Actions Menu (person icon) containing several links to the following important tools and features:
Change to Student View/Change to Instructor ViewClick these links in the Global Actions Menu to toggle between a student or instructor perspective of your current course. See Student View/Instructor View Toggle for more details.
PreferencesClick this link in the Global Actions Menu to set global preferences for key CengageNOWv2 features. See Preferences for more details.
Basic CalculatorClicking this link in the Global Actions Menu provides quick access to a simple calculator. For more details see Basic Calculator.
Textual HelpClick Textual Help to in the Global Actions Menu open the online CengageNOWv2 Instructor Help at the top level table of contents. The Help system's Contents, Index, and Search tabs offer different ways to help you quickly find the information you need. See Using the CengageNOWv2 Help for more details.
On most CengageNOWv2 pages, you can get help for that page's specific features by clicking an adjacent help icon.
Training VideosClick Training Videos in the Global Actions Menu to open a new browser window with links to the self-training videos available on the Digital Course Support site. These videos provide a walk-through of some of the key procedures you need to know when working in CengageNOWv2. They can include topics such as creating courses, creating assignments, and account management for both instructors and students.
Sign OutUse this link in the Global Actions Menu to close your current CengageNOWv2 session and inform the system that you are done. If you simply close the browser window without signing out, there is a chance that you may lose unsaved work or your session may not terminate successfully.
Your log-in session does expire automatically after 2 hours of inactivity, however, a warning overlay will pop-up to inform you when 10 minutes remain. If you are using your account normally you do not need to worry about your session expiring. Each time you click to load a new page or save an entry, your session timer resets. Be sure to sign out by clicking the Sign Out link if you need to leave your computer for an extended period.
Note: Always use the buttons and links provided in CengageNOWv2 to close assignments or go to another page. If you use your browser's Close button or Back/Forward buttons instead, you may unintentionally lose work from your current session.
