Creating an Adaptive Study Plans Assignment
Adaptive Study Plans (ASP) are either graded or self-study content used to present your students with background information and exercises to help them prepare for your course.
When you create an ASP assignment, students can take the assignment as many times as they like, and their grade is based on their most recent quiz take. Students can also access ASP content from the Study Tools page for ungraded self-study. However, you can remove assigned content from self-study in the assignment options. If students try to access assigned content that's unavailable for self-study, the Study Tools page directs them to the assignment.
As an evaluated, self-study assessment, ASP assignments are designed to allow students a single, open-ended take only. You cannot change the number of ASP takes, however, you can limit the number of times students are able to take the Quiz. By default, ASP quizzes can be taken as many times as desired with no overwriting. Students are able to save their work in progress and resume the assignment take at a later time.
When using ASP content, students generally start with a diagnostic quiz of randomized questions to identify their knowledge gaps. Based on the quiz results, students can work through the recommended study materials until they achieve mastery on the required topics.
ASP assignments typically carry a score, but you can enable the Not graded assignment option if you simply wish to verify students have worked through the material. You can also encourage students to register early and access these assignments before the course start date to help them get a jump start with the knowledge they need for your course.

At this point, your assignment is complete and assigned to the current course. However, you still have the ability to work with and modify your assignment using the links on the Assignment Created page.
The Assignment Created page provides you with options to preview the assignment as a student, edit the assignment, customize options for students, take the assignment offline, create a new assignment, or return to the Assignments page. See Using the Assignment Created Page for additional details.
Note: When students open their self-study content, sections assigned for a grade display a Take Assignment or Resume Assignment button that redirects them to their graded assignment (you can change the Availability As a Study Tool setting to hide assignment content for self-study, if desired).
