Editing Your Assignment
Clicking the Edit link in the Assignment page's Action column allows you to edit the name, dates, content, and options associated with your assignment. For assignments you just finished creating, you can open this page by clicking Edit Assignment on the Assignment Created/Assignment Summary page. The page you use for editing is the same as the page you use for the Create Assignment process.
Note: For detailed information on all the available options, see Editing Assignment Options
Assignment Name:Enter the assignment name in the Name Your Assignment field. It can include special characters, but must be unique and contain no more than 120 characters (Required).
Note: If you are creating a number of assignments, planning the naming scheme in advance can save you some time renaming them later.
Setting Assignment DatesSet assignment dates by clicking the calendar icon in the heading to open the Select Dates pane.
- ° Assignment Available On:
Click the calendar icon and select the date/time on which students can start taking the assignment. (Required for all assignment types.) You can also click Now to set Available On as the current date and time.
- ° Assignment Due On:
Click the calendar icon and select the date/time by which students must submit the completed assignment to avoid any late penalties. (Required for ASP assignments.)
- ° Assignment Unavailable On:
To allow for late assignments (perhaps with a late penalty), you can enter a date that is after the Assignment Due On date.
Uncheck the option Same as Due Date and use the calendar tool to select an alternate date/time on which the assignment is no longer available to take, resume, or complete. If a student is working on the assignment when the Unavailable date and time arrives, the assignment is stopped and scored on progress to that point.
To add a Penalty for submissions after due date or a Subsequent penalty on past due assignments, you can do so from the assignment options panel. See Choosing Assignment Options for more details.
Assignment ContentUntil one of your students has started a take, you have the ability to edit the assignment's content. Depending on the type of assignment you are editing, this process can vary slightly.
When editing Homework, Test, and Reading assignments, expand the content list and select content by clicking the Assign button. Unassign content by clicking the adjacent Unassign button. (Reading assignments are allowed only one selection.)
Adaptive Study Plans allow you to select a section and then determine which Objective Options appear in the assignment, while External assignments allow you to edit the Comment and URL.
For detailed instructions see the procedures for creating specific assignment types.
Item Point ValueFrom the list of selected content, adjust the score of individual items by entering a new point value in the box next to the item name. (Available in Homework and Test assignments.)
Item PoolsWhen editing Homework and Test assignments, you can create assignment pools by selecting items and then clicking the Add New Pool button. Pools allow you to randomize which items appear in each take of the assignment. Remove items from the pool by selecting them and clicking the Unpool Items button. See Creating and Editing Question Pools for more details.
Click Publish when you have finished editing the assignment details.
