CengageNOWv2 supports Microsoft Edge browser version 13.0 or greater. To check your system's version of Edge, click More Actions (ellipsis icon) in the upper-right corner, and then select Settings. Look for your version under About this app.
Configuring Microsoft Edge for CengageNOWv2
Use the following settings to get the best performance from CengageNOWv2 with Microsoft Edge. Edge provides a minimal amount of user preferences in comparison to other browsers, however, if you have problems with CengageNOWv2 later on, you can begin your troubleshooting by reconfirming these settings.

Optimizing Usability in Microsoft Edge
You can improve usability in Edge in just a few minutes following these procedures (instructions for version 14 are shown).
To set text size in Microsoft Edge
- 1. Start Edge and click the "ellipsis" icon to open the More Actions menu.
- 2. Select Settings.
- 3. Under Reading choose a Reading view style (Default, Light, Medium or Dark) and Reading view font size (Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large).
- 4. Close the Settings window when you are done, then refresh your web page or open a new browser tab.
To set Dark mode in Microsoft Edge
You can enable a unique Dark theme in Edge's settings, which allows you to adjust the browser to be easier on your eyes while you are studying. This setting doesn't modify the page content, but it does remove any harsh contrasts in Edge.
Enabling Flash in Microsoft Edge
Flash Player is integrated with Microsoft Edge in Windows 10, so there is no need for you to install Flash Player. However, if items in assignments are not loading, you may need to check your settings for Flash.
To enable Flash in Microsoft Edge
- 1. Start Edge and click the "ellipsis" icon to open the More Actions menu.
- 2. Select Settings and then select View Advanced Settings.
- 3. Locate the Use Adobe Flash Player section and, if necessary, toggle the switch On to enable Flash.
- 4. Close the Settings window when you are done, then refresh your web page or open a new browser tab.
Enabling Cookies in Microsoft Edge
CengageNOWv2 uses cookies to recognize you and your permissions when you sign in. Here's how to enable them in Edge 14.0.

Enabling Pop-up Windows in Microsoft Edge
CengageNOWv2 uses pop-ups to display error messages and the Textual Help system. Here's how to enable them in Edge 14.0.
To enable pop-ups in Microsoft Edge
- 1. Start Edge and click the "ellipsis" icon to open the More menu.
- 2. Select Settings and set Block pop-ups to Off.
- 3. Close and restart Edge to start browsing with the new settings.
Note: There are many third-party pop-up blockers (Google, Yahoo!, etc.) available for internet browsers. If you are using any of these, consult their directions for instructions on allowing pop-ups.
Clearing Cache and Cookies in Microsoft Edge
If you experience browser problems when running CengageNOWv2 in Edge, a good first troubleshooting step is to clear your browser cache and cookies. (If you clear cookies, you will need to reselect your school the next time you sign in.)
To clear the Edge cache and cookies
- 1. Start Edge and click the "ellipsis" icon to open the More menu.
- 2. Select Settings.
- 3. Under Clear Browsing Data, click Choose what to clear.
- 4. Choose the types of data or files you want to remove from your PC, then select Clear. In this case, select Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files.
- 5. Click Clear.
- 6. Close and restart Edge.
Enabling JavaScript in Microsoft Edge
CengageNOWv2 requires JavaScript for many of its functions. If the System Check reports a JavaScript failure, you may need to update your browser software. However, it may be that you simply need to enable JavaScript in your browser before starting CengageNOWv2.
To enable JavaScript in Microsoft Edge
This setting is enabled by default, however, you can change it using the Group Policy settings.
- 1. Press Win+R on your keyboard to open the Run menu.
- 2. In the Run dialog box, type
gpedit.msc
to open the Local Computer Policy window.- 3. Click Computer Configuration.
- 4. Click Administrative Templates.
- 5. Click Windows Components and select Microsoft Edge.
- 6. In the Microsoft Edge section, double click the Allows you to run scripts like Javascript option.
- 7. In the script options dialog box, select Enabled, then click OK.
- 8. Close and restart Edge to start browsing with the new settings.
